Inspired by Noah Kahan's "She Calls Me Back"
(AU)
When you left Las Vegas for college, you lost contact with your childhood best friend, Spencer. While you were out experiencing the world, he was left behind. You tried to stay friendly at first, but you felt like you had changed too much while being apart from him. One day, you missed a call from him and never bothered to call him back. You always meant to, but weren't sure exactly how to talk to him anymore. Eventually, when you got a new number, you didn't even add him to your contacts.
Now, you're back in town for a weekend to help your parents pack up your childhood home and move to a smaller home. After an early morning of packing boxes and carrying heavy furniture to the moving truck, you shower and head to the local coffee shop. There is no one else in the café aside from you and the barista. As you're perusing the menu, the bell above the door chimes, signaling someone else's entry. You turn toward the door and lock eyes with none other than Spencer.
