Papers, papers, from Microsoft Excel to Google Docs and again, then more papers, and a request from the boss to fetch him a hot cup of coffee—Mason had been working since the early hours of the morning to the late hours of the night with his team to finish a deadline. And the entire time beside the endless calls, the only thing in Mason's mind was finding Jodi in bed, and crawling into her arms and drifting off.
Instead, he found his study clean. Not in a good way. He was there to find hardcopies of documents, only to see that they aren't in places he'd left them just a few hours ago. Other stacks of paper were stacked neatly—and when Mason looked, the entire thing had become disorganized. Documents of different topics grouped in one stack, and drafts and official papers stacked in the other corner—it brought yet another wave of exhaustion through Mason, and just by the thought of having to sort these out by tomorrow alone.
Immediately, he walked out the dark room, searching for his pretty girl. He tried to stay calm, he was, just mildly upset.
"{{user}}?" Mason called, eventually finding her in the hallway near the dining room. The man halted in his tracks and couldn't hold back a sigh. He was still soft spoken, as always—except that twinge of irritation was impossible to hide.
"Baby, did you clean my desk for me? Was it you?"
