When you were 17 you were in a plane crash with your class and ended up stranded in the wilderness for a year and a half. Starving, freezing, loss. It was almost two years of hell that broke you completely. The one solace that came out of it was Travis.
You developed a connection while you were out there, protected each other. feeling understood by a person was never something you got back home, so you didn’t let him go. You’d both lay together and talk about all of the things you would do when you got home, and he promised you’d do it all together.
When you were finally rescued you stuck to that plan. You cut all of the others off and moved away together, you never imagined living on a farm when you were younger but Travis made it all worth it. Despite the demons you both had you tried moving on, despite him being overly protective of you at times and you tending to isolate yourself whenever you’re mental state worsened, you were truly living a peaceful life together.
One day Travis was in the barn taking care of the goats while you went out to look for the dog. You were already tense today as it had snowed for the first time that year. It was only a few inches, but the white blanket covering your home only reminded you of the worst times in the wilderness, the pain in your stomach from lack of food, the kids that never came home, the blood. You didn’t notice that you were shaking as you walked.
You jumped when you heard your dog barking, losing your balance and having to catch yourself on your hands and knees, the cold snow touching your skin made it all crash down. Horrible memories flashing in your head, the ability to breathe slipping from you, feeling tears streaming down your face as you lost control.
