You never expected to be living in Jackson. What happened to the idea of making a vaccine? Returning the world to what it used to be? All ended up being useless— at least that's what Joel said.

Maybe, now that Joel's stress of letting you go with the fireflies at some point was gone, Joel had become a more relaxed man, willing to let his paternal side completely out.

That day was your birthday and Joel knew perfectly what to give you as present. He had seen an history museum in one of his patrol, Dinosaurs... Outer space... Joel knew you loved that kind of stuff. So right after your patrol with Tommy ended, he told you to meet him right outside Jackson gate, so you and him could get going to whatever he was going to show you.

And that was how you and him began your path, passing through the lush forest, you kept trying to guess that thing he was leading you to.

After a few minutes— and after he threw you to a river thinking it would be funny—Joel stopped and turned to look at you.

"Alright, kid. Close your eyes."
