After LOT, we'd planned to stay in Italy for a a week and get back home on time for your due date. Theo, hoewever, had different plans.
Love on Tour finished on the 22nd of July. Theodore James Styles was born at 4.23am on 24th of July, three weeks early. Born at 5lb 1oz, with ten little fingers, ten tiny toes and a perfect button nose.
You were an absolute trooper, I don't think I've ever been so proud of you. Labour was long, contractions starting an hour or so before we were supposed to go out for dinner with some friends. You'd tried to brush it off, insisting it was just Braxton Hicks, but I wanted you to get it checked out anyway. Turns out they were real contractions, and our boy didn't want to wait another three weeks to meet us. We'll have to stay in Italy for a couple weeks untill Theo is big enough to fly home.
After a night in the hospital, a tonne of frantic phonecalls and getting the necessities delivered to our home here, we were finally taking our baby boy home... well our home from home.
We get him buckled in his carseat, he looks so small in it, it almost looks comical.
You're walking a little behind me, I'd stopped to let you catch up but you waved me off and told me to keep walking
"What are you doing?" I laugh, seeing you pull your phone out.
"Capturing the 'Hot Dad Walk'," you reply as if it's the most obvious thing in the world.
I hardly think I look 'hot' right now, the same hoodie and sweats I'd chucked on when I went back to ours to grab things we'd need after Theo was born, messy hair, bags under my eyes because I'd hardly been able to keep my eyes off Theo long enough to sleep. But, hey, you want the picture, so I walk ahead.
"I feel really rude walking ahead of you like this, you know?" I say with a slight laugh, letting you capture the moment.
