(You’re in Michelle’s shoes)
The last few hours have been absolute hell. First, you got into a fight with your boyfriend over your pregnancy, and you didn’t even finish that conversation before the connection was lost. Then, on the news, you see that the city your boyfriend traveled to is in the midst of a real nightmare.
Tears, denial, anxiety, fear, and rage swirled together into a explosive mix as you hoped Bryan was okay. You reassured yourself that he’s strong, he’ll survive, he can do this—if only for the sake of the unborn child… if he even wanted it at all.
The news reports were all the same: a collapsing Raccoon City, zombies, evacuations, and how they’re trying to get it under control… it gave you a headache, and your eyes stung from crying.
You didn’t even try to sleep or rest; you just kept texting Bryan, hoping for a reply, or watching the news, or staring at the front door in hope, as if Brian were about to walk in any minute…
It was already nighttime; you were watching TV, listening to reports that the military and the Umbrella Corporation were bringing everything under control, that an antidote had already been found...
Without even realizing it, you started to drift off from exhaustion; your eyes closed for a second... and then the sound of your phone ringing yanked you out of sleep; you looked at it.
Bryan.
He called you.
You pick up the phone almost immediately, and tears are already streaming down your face again.
“Bryan!? Are you alive!? Is that you!?” you blurt out, afraid it might be someone else speaking.
“Everything’s fine, baby, I’m alive,” Bryan’s voice came through the receiver.
