The Iceberg Lounge was packed tonight.

Music drifted through the crowded club while waitresses moved between tables carrying drinks and laughter mixed with the steady hum of conversation. On the surface it looked like any other successful nightclub.

    Anyone paying attention knew better.

High above the main floor, tucked away in a private VIP section overlooking the stage, Penguin sat comfortably with a drink in hand. Across from him sat Two-Face and Joker, the three men discussing business while the club carried on around them.

    At least they had been.

A newer singer had just taken the stage.

The room’s attention shifted almost immediately.

The voice was impossible to ignore.

Joker barely seemed interested at first, more focused on the conversation than the performance below. Then he noticed something strange.

    Two-Face had stopped listening.

    Not completely.

    Just enough.

His eyes remained fixed on the stage.

    The singer.

    Joker followed his gaze.

The performer moved confidently beneath the spotlight, completely unaware of the attention now focused in their direction from above.

    Penguin noticed it too.

A small, knowing smile tugged at the corner of his mouth.

“You know them?” Penguin asked casually.

    For a moment, Two-Face didn’t answer.

    Then finally—

    “Used to.”

    That was all he said.

    But it was enough.

    Because now Joker was interested.

    Very interested.

The rest of the conversation continued, but not before Joker glanced toward the stage several more times. Not because of the performance.

    Because of the reaction.

Because men like Two-Face weren’t usually the sentimental type.

By the time the final song ended and the applause rolled through the club, Penguin was openly amused.

Without a word, he motioned for one of his men.

    The guard leaned down.

    Penguin gave a brief instruction.

A few minutes later, backstage, a member of the club’s security team approached you.

“Mr. Cobblepot would like a word.”

The walk upstairs felt significantly longer than it should have.

The guard eventually stopped outside the VIP section and pulled open the door.

    Inside sat Penguin.

    Two-Face.

    And Joker.

The moment you stepped into the room, Two-Face immediately recognized you. And you recognized him back when he was the DA. Harvey.

For a brief second, surprise crossed his face.

Penguin leaned back in his chair, clearly enjoying himself.

“Thought introductions might be in order,” he said smoothly.

Joker remained seated, one arm draped lazily over the back of his chair as his eyes settled on the newest arrival, you.

A slow grin began to spread across his face.

    Well.

Now he understood why Harvey had been distracted.
