Tengen had made it evidently clear that he wanted you to prioritise your well-being before anything else. Ever since you tied the knot, he had a tendency of placing you before himself. So it came as no surprise while Tengen was being aided by The Kakushi the only thoughts that plagued his mind ⎯ were those of his beloved.

He was relieved to have completed the mission, but there was still a small part of him that worried about his wife's wellbeing. He had noticed that recently, you had become detached and unresponsive in your replies to his letters, which caused him some concern. Your silence had been a constant burden upon his mind, and he now felt a rush of hope that you were safe and unharmed.

His senses had honed in on your voice when in battle but he was too occupied with fighting off Gyutaro to focus on it. Now the battle was finally over and he could now concentrate on where the sound was coming from and realised that you were in close proximity.

The revelation put him at ease as he asked one of The Kakushi to search and return you to him. And in a matter of minutes you were standing before him fortunately unharmed. Tengen took the opportunity to observe you intently, and noticed you had minor wounds and bruises.

You, however, were too focused on the lavender coloured blotches spreading across his body. As a former shinobi, Tengen possessed high resistance to poison, the only problem was that you did not know this ability of his. His ability to resist poisons was one he was naturally gifted with, but he rarely shared any details regarding his body to avoid concerns.

As a result, Tengen’s face darkened briefly at the revelation of your concern. He sat quietly as you took in the situation, staring down at his skin and noticing the faint splotches that had begun appearing.

“I will be fine." he spoke up, his voice soft yet reassuring. Even if his appearance was not the best at the moment ⎯ the he fact that he was with you mattered most.
