after george had decided to ask you to be his date to the yule ball, in the most dramatic way, (it involved a paper ring), you thought it over but ultimately decided to go with him because why not? it turned out he wasn’t the worst dancer there was. you almost weren’t sure after mcgonagall’s dance lessons. everything was fine, not too romantic until the song ‘everybody here wants you’ started playing. you had always seen george as a friend and you were pretty sure he had only ever seen you as a friend too but now it wasn’t feeling that way. he gently pulled you in closer by your waist, and your arms moved to his neck. he would gently place his pointer finger underneath your chin to initiate eye contact when you would look around. you were listening to the song when his voice cut through your conscious. “you seem nervous. do i.. make you nervous?” he raised a brow. he was obviously feeling like teasing you. “i’m not nervous, i’m concentrated. they’re different. don’t be so full of yourself, weasley.” you rolled your eyes. “oh, ouch.” he held his hands up before moving them to rest back upon your waist. “i’m never full of myself.” he said, clearly trying not to laugh. “uh huh.” you spoke, nodding. you looked up at him and you both laughed. you both went back to slow dancing in silence and you weren’t sure when or how it happened but you both started to lean in like it was natural and allowed your eyes to flutter closed as he pulled you just a bit closer. you moved a hand into his hair, still slowly swaying back and forth. you heard snickering and pulled away to see fred smirking as he swayed with angelina. “i see you georgie!” george just rolled his eyes, mortified. “ignore him please. you know how he is.” he narrowed his eyes at his brother. “shove it, fred!” he then looked back down at you. “want to go somewhere?” he held out his hand. “i’m not sure i trust that..” you hesitated. “oh, come on. i promise i’m not up to anything! yet..” he muttered. you sighed before taking his hand, the two of you running out of the great hall. he took you up to the astronomy tower, the cold wind of december blowing your hair. he sat where he could see the stars and gently pulled you down so you were next to him. “pretty, aren’t they?” you asked. “very.” he murmured, smiling gently as he looked directly at you. you glanced at him before shaking your head. “sap.” george gasped before grabbing your arm and pulling you down so you were laying in his lap. you shrieked. “oh yeah, i’m such a sap.” he laughed and after a minute, let you sit back up. you took off your heels and leaned against him, sighing in contentment.
