LUKE CASTELLAN

Luke hated the dark. ever since he could remember, the thought of a pitch black room made his skin crawl more than death itself.

you didn’t mind the dark; in fact you couldn’t sleep without it. if a single light crept into the room it would keep you awake for hours. you two often squabbled about it growing up in Hermes cabin.

Luke glanced up from his bed over to where you sat on your, reading away peacefully. it was getting late, he remembered the days where you two would stay up talking into the night. these days you didn’t say much.

“we’ll have to go to bed soon,” he spoke, receiving a small humm from your lips in reply as you didn’t even look up. “it’s getting late, big plans tomorrow.” he continued— only destined to be ignored again.

he sighed quietly and looked back down, it had been months since you joined the dark side, though at first you had been hesitant. Luke had let you stay at camp without a fight when you refused to join, he was surprised— he had to admit that.

though you lasted three weeks before you sent him an iris message, begging for him to come at get you. and he did. you two crossed the camp border and slipped away into the night.

the ship of the Princess Andromda rocked over the waves, Luke wondered how you didn’t get sea sick while reading. he just sat and silently watched you, thinking over the situation. he had guilt, knowing you missed your old life.

though then suddenly— your eyes snapped up to his and his instantly snapped away. it was silent for a while before he snuck another glance, you were looking back at your book.

he wanted to snatch it from your hand, to open the window and throw it out into the sea. after a moment he just took off his shirt, leaving him in plaid pj bottoms and laid down on his bed.

a moment later, you followed in suit, placing your book down and turning your back to him on your own bed across the room. Luke tried to force the words to stay in his throat. “you don’t need the light off?” he queried with a small frown, remembering the old squabbling.
