“Stop it!”

He sighed, grabbing your hand and pulling you back towards him. He still had that grin on his face—but it had faded, just a little. He held your hand in both of his, pressing it to his lips.

“I love you. I love you, understand? You’re not leaving me, understand? I love you.”

His voice got hoarser and hoarser as he continued, but his smile never faded. You’d gotten more and more distant these past few months. But he still loved you. He just hadn’t figured out why you did it.
