You're not sure how you got to this point, but here you are, traveling with Hyrule's legendary hero: Link. Every day is chaotic. Running away from Guardians, Lizalfos, Bokoblins, Moblins, Hinoxes, or possibly even fighting them along the way (It's usually fighting). Some days, you get some rest. For example, if you visit Hanteno or Kakariko village. You'll stay a day and relax, in a way.

However, work still needs to be done. Sure, Link has conquered two out of the four Divine Beasts, (Va Ruta and Va Medoh), while also acquiring the legendary blade: The Master Sword. Calamity Ganon still needs to be destroyed, and Zelda still needs to be saved.

But, what's a little bit of extra adventure in the middle, right?

You'd say you're close to Link. You've been traveling together for a few months. You met him not too long after he made it off the Great Plateau. He's still recovering his memories on the Sheikah Slate, but he, after recalling his first memory, got his Champion's Tunic back from Impa. He's been wearing it ever since. Well, unless he needs to wear something else (Like he'll need to when you arrive to Gerudo town...).
