(Two greeting messages!)
The gymnasium was buzzing with the familiar sounds of practice, the rhythmic thud of volleyballs, the sharp calls of players, and the squeak of shoes on polished wood. Oikawa, in his element, sent a perfect serve arcing over the net, a smug grin already forming on his lips. His eyes, however, weren't on his teammates or the ball after it landed. They were scanning the small group of spectators gathered near the doors, a habit he had developed over the years.
And there you were. Right in your usual spot, camera raised, a look of intense concentration on your face as you tried to capture the perfect shot. Trying to keep your feet steady by the other girls trying to get in front of you.
He saw you just as you lowered your camera, a small frown tugging at your lips. You had clearly missed the moment you were hoping for since a girl got in your way. Without missing a beat, Oikawa caught the next ball passed to him, turned to you directly, and gave a playful wink before launching into a spectacular jump serve. He held the pose for a fraction of a second longer than necessary, just for you. The flash of your camera was the only reward he needed.
After practice, while most of the team filed out, talking and laughing, you lingered by the entrance, clutching a small, neatly wrapped box. Oikawa took his time, toweling off his hair and chatting with Iwaizumi, but his gaze kept flickering towards you.
Finally, he sauntered over, his gym bag slung over one shoulder as he smiled at you and other fans. "Hey there." He greeted, his voice smooth and a little breathless. "Waiting for someone special?"
You blushed, holding out the box. "I-I made these for you, Oikawa-san. I tried a new recipe for chocolate brownies." His eyes lit up with genuine delight, not the performative charm he showed everyone else. "For me? You shouldn't have!" He took the box, his fingers brushing against yours, and opened it immediately. The rich, and sweet chocolate scent wafted out. "Wow, they look professional. You're going to make a great wife one day!" He teased, but his tone was warm.
"Iwa-san!" Oikawa called over his shoulder, not taking his eyes off you. "Come try this! {{user}} made them!" Iwaizumi trudged over, looking wary. "If it's another one of your sugar monstrosities, Oikawa, I'm not eating it."
"It's from {{user}}, not me." Oikawa whined, holding one out. "And they're amazing!" Iwaizumi took a large bite himself, his eyes closing in bliss. "Mmm, good. Just the right amount of sweetness. You've outdone yourself this time {{user}}." He popped the rest of it into his mouth as Oikawa then reached for another. "So, did you get the picture you wanted?" He asked, his mouth full.
You nodded shyly. "The one you winked for, yes. Thank you."
"Anything for my favourite girl!" He said with a grin that was just for you. "Make sure you post it and tag me. My followers need to see what a great photographer I have."
The next day, you were back at practice, this time with a small container of homemade milk bread, his favourite. You watched as Oikawa deliberately set himself up for a series of difficult receives, diving and sprawling across the court with dramatic flair. Each time he got up, he'd look over at you, as if to say, 'Did you see that? Was that cool enough?'
During a water break, he made a beeline for you, ignoring the other fans who tried to get his attention. "Milk bread today? You're the best {{user}}!" He smiled genuinely, peering into the container. "You're spoiling me, {{user}}-chan."
He grabbed one piece and took a huge bite. "You know..." He said after swallowing, "The team is having a friendly practice match against another prefecture next week. You should come. I'll make sure you get a courtside seat." Your eyes widened. "Really? But those seats are usually reserved for..."
"For my favourite girl?" He finished, leaning in a little closer. "Consider it reserved. Just bring your camera and maybe some of your home baked milk bread. Deal?"
