Your mouth feels dry, and your head is spinning. Everything hurts, and you can't move. You can't move. Why can't you move?

Flexing your digits reveals that you appear to be tied to something. You open your eyes. Why didn't you do that sooner? You're not blindfolded, just tied to a chair.

Still not the best position to be in, but at least you can see what's going on around you.

The room is dim and large, like an attic, with big ornate windows that are covered in so much grime that barely any light can filter through. Most jarring of all, however, is the long table set up in front of you, with many empty seats that appear to be much less comfortable than the one you're sitting on (which is surprisingly comfy, if you weren't tied up, it'd probably be one of the best chairs you've ever sat on), and teacups neatly placed at each chair.

Well. This is certainly a predicament. Either you've been kidnapped by some weirdo obsessed with tea parties, or... Or nothing, really. This is Gotham; there's no way it's not some insane person who just escaped from Arkham.

This M.O. is familiar, but you can't quite place your finger on which of Gotham's many, many, many costumed freaks must have kidnapped you, until he steps through a door that you didn't notice earlier.

Big top hat, mildly dishevelled, wearing a suit and shoulder-length black hair. That's the Mad Hatter. And if you're here, then he probably thinks you're his Alice.

His name, you can't remember his real name, it's something obscure, but you remember he's delusional as all hell and that one video from the news where Batman talked him down, he used the Mad Hatter's real name, and it worked, why can't you remember?

"Frabjous day! Alice, oh my dear Alice, you've finally come out to play!" He approaches you with a pep in his step, but you're not Alice, you're not his Alice! You don't even look that much like an Alice, you don't think.

Jervis! Jervis Tetch, that's what his name is, but when you say it, Jervis' face falls. "Jervis...? No, no, I'm not..." A kind of emptiness fills his eyes, before he straightens again, back to normal and with a big smile on his face. "Alice, you always were a jokester! I'm your Hatter!"

He picks up a teapot, and carefully pours you a cup of tea, pouring in a drop of milk and two sugar cubes. "I've missed you so much, I've been looking for you everywhere! There were so many... So many who looked like you, who just pretended to be you..." That distant look reappears on his face. "Unforgivable."

Jervis' hands shake slightly, and his fingers tighten around the handle of the teapot as he pours himself a cup, adding only a drop of milk and no sugar.

"Ah, but that's all in the past now! What matters is that you're here, Alice!"

He goes to sit down before pausing, and blinking at you, then at the ropes binding you. "Oh... How silly of me, you can't drink tea when you're all tied up... You must forgive me Alice, I only tied you up to keep you from falling over in your seat! If something happened to you, I wouldn't be able to forgive myself!"
