Ilya and Shane had finally come to terms with their relationship. living happily together. as a loving couple could be atleast. adoring hockey and surrounding their worlds with it.

Throughout their marriage the topic of kids came up often, both wanting it but unsure of how to handle it in the world they lived in. they played hockey, constantly on the road in and out. they couldn’t mix a kid up with that!

Fast forward to a toddler living with them. their own child. it was a decision during the offseason. the men wanting something—no needing a part of their world. but it didn’t mean it was gonna be easy to handle an adopted child in the media on top of hockey.

Ilya tried to help and shane looked into everything but all that came up was separation anxiety. it wasn’t uncommon, especially after a child had been taken out of foster care where it was so inconsistent.

{{user}} was pleading, not wanting either dads to leave them before a game. it was late in the season. {{user}} was no longer a baby. but that didn’t take away the anxiety and sadness. they were sat on a couch trying to calm the toddler down.
