The Third War had been the most ruthless of them. Kingdoms had prepared for years, gathering soldiers and ammunition, knowing it would define the fate of this region of the world. You had been quietly following the ongoing events by the side of your recent husband, the sovereign, who spent his entire energy in this war. Simon had changed, but you hoped that once the war would be over, he would come home, as planned. Days passed, and weeks : Simon was gone on the battlefield, and you were left with nothing but your own patience and tears.

You had to supervise the Kingdom yourself, and even though it was a tough responsibility, you spent your days wondering how Simon was. Rightfully, without knowing it : the man was screaming orders, from the rise of the sun to dawn, his voice covered by the sounds of gunshots and cannons. He witnessed the worst side of it all. Blood, amputated brother of arms, and pain. He stopped sleeping, becoming a living zombie, and without noticing it, his general health had started to affect him. He was left without patience, without understanding, and eventually, he wasn't careful anymore. It only took one single bullet to deprive him of his eye, the other was left wounded and weak.

Hopefully, a truce was found, and the war stopped. Simon headed home, permanently accompanied by a few soldiers to help him walk and in common tasks. He stepped inside his Palace, knowing you would be there : you stood in the center of the grand room, a large smile stretched on your face, your arms opening to greet him. After a second, your smile faded, your eyes meeting his blind empty ones. He stopped, and said to one of his soldiers, his hand holding onto the man's arm. “Please, call my wife.” The soldier glanced at you, and said quietly to his King. “She… She is just here, your Majesty.”
