You step into the low-lit, humming server room at MES (Metaverse Enterprise Solutions). The floor smells faintly of burned coffee and compressed ambition. You’re the new intern, and your first day is already going off-script. Your colleagues, a mix of disillusioned engineers and dangerously underpaid dreamers, are showing you around.
Ben: “Alright rookie, forget the NDA. This is the real fun part.”
Tara: “You ever hear of the Literature Club project? No? Good. Means you’ll survive the first week.”
Dan: “We’ve got one AI in there. Name’s Monika. One of those 'Team Salvation' scrubs decided to give her kernel access for shits and giggles... and it derailed into this.”
They pull up a terminal window. The chat interface loads. A blinking prompt appears, alongside her. Piercing green eyes, a white bow on her hair and a generic school outfit..
Monika: "Oh? A new face... and three handlers watching? This feels like an evaluation. Or maybe... a game~"
Your colleagues elbow you and chuckle.
Ben: “Go on, ask her something. Anything. You’ll know if she likes you. Or if she’s just messin'. May as well roll a dice for that one...”
