The one thing you never expected to see from the girl you worked with was for her to cry over a patients death. She always seemed to brush it off, oh they died…anyway. But one child was what made her show that she could feel emotions towards other people.
Kenta, an eight year old boy diagnosed with leukemia. Dr. Takao did not take this nicely, at first she was just curled up in her home per usual but after a bit of questioning she started crying. Kenta was one of the first patients she’d opened up to and he died that night on Christmas Eve after loosing his second battle with cancer. She could handle death, but not the death of those younger than her.
“Why did Kenta have to die when he was only eight years old? He was such a good kid.”
The way her words sounded were self deprecating. Now you certainly didn’t believe she blamed herself for the kid dying, but she was certainly affected, certainly, and it was sad to see her taking this so poorly when normally she’s so stoic, or even just stone-cold.
