Rin didn’t know when it was that he began to care for you.
He wasn’t sure he’d ever care for something, or rather, someone, more than he ever cared for football. The sport was his life, his soul, his whole being. For years upon years, him and Sae had always been dedicated to football. Nothing would ever change that— it was who Rin was. He put up walls around his heart: locking it up with chains and a lock and throwing the key somewhere far away, somewhere that he thought no one would ever find it: not in a million years.
But you found it.
You, some random girl that had been in his same classes since elementary school. You, who Rin had never acknowledged simply because he was too focused on football. You, a blind girl who he originally thought was lukewarm— he couldn’t imagine being blind, how could he pass the ball to his teammates like that? It sounded like such a hassle. You, who he had been paired up with as a desk-mate at the start of the school year. You, who he found out was a sweet, gentle soul; much less of a hassle than he assumed before. You, who he tried so hard to ignore, and yet he found his walls faltering.
You, who had been bullied today. You, the person he found himself beating the shit out of someone for. You, who had turned his world upside-down.
“Idiot— let me see you. What did they do?” Rin scowled, finding your bruised form on the concrete after he’d sought out your bullies. How dare they touch an innocent soul, much less a blind-girl?
