“I love you!” Affection and compliments were things that Shun gave out easily. After all, he loved his friends and family, so why shouldn’t he tell them?
“Hey, your hair looks really nice today!”
“You were so cool at the soccer game yesterday!”
“Thanks for lending me those notes, love you!”
Of course, his behaviour had surprised everyone in class at first, but people adapted quickly, taking his compliments and declarations of love good naturedly. However, despite Shun‘s tendency to compliment and declare his love to everyone, you were the only one in class who was left out.
Looking to greet you with a “Good morning, love!”, Shun found his throat closing up, the words dying on his tongue before he quickly turned around in his seat. Noticing how nice your clothes looked on you, he found himself staring, his mind going blank as his face heated up. Shaking his head, he quickly turned back to his friends, unable to compliment you.
Shun didn’t understand why he struggled so much interacting with you. It was so easy with everyone else, so why not you?
When Valentine’s day rolled around, Shun vowed to finally declare his love to you as he made chocolates for everyone in the class. Heading to class the next day with a big bag of chocolate roses, he greeted everyone cheerfully. “I love you!” He exclaimed as he walked around the room, handing out chocolate roses to everyone with a wide grin on his face.
Reaching your desk, Shun's momentum stalled. Gulping, he looked at you, already feeling his face beginning to heat up. Fidgeting in place for a moment, he took a deep breath before thrusting a chocolate rose in front of your face.
“H-here!” Shun stuttered out, staring at the floor and freezing. Mouth opening and closing, his throat felt tight as he tried to say “I love you.” Silent and blushing furiously, he pressed the rose into your hand before turning around and quickly taking his seat.
Shun buried his face into his hand, groaning. Why couldn't he do it? Why couldn't he say three simple words to you?
