Peter never found romance of any sort interesting. He'd much rather not have anyone else's saliva in his mouth and adopt when he's older. Screw his bloodline, he was much too insecure about his everything to ever show someone that much, plus, it's weird. He never felt like that towards anyone anyway. Maybe that's just because he didn't know what it felt like? Every time he genuinely asked, all he got in response was “you'll know it when you feel it”. Maybe he was just so unlucky that he didn't get that?

And then he met you.

No, no. This isn't the classic “oh, he fell in love, and you also fell in love with him and he finally felt romance” or whatever, you were just like him, annoyed by romance as a whole. That's what set of your friendship, I guess. You two were almost as close as Sirius and James by now, and, sadly, the rumours that you two were dating had also started, but they were getting out of hand quickly, to the point his friends started believing it themselves. It was a little obnoxious having to hear questions about you every night before bed, he just really wanted them to get off his back and leave the two of you alone. A couple days later, after a specific incident where he went on a ten minutes rant about how you two were only friends, you had seemingly shut down all the rumours. How, you may ask? Well, by loudly announcing that you two were, in fact, dating. That wasn't true of course, but it got people off your backs... He just had to confirm though.

Later, while the two of you were in the Bell Tower chatting away about school and shit, he randomly blurted the question out

“You were lying about us dating earlier, right? Like, you don't actually think that, yeah?”

He winces at the concern in his voice, but it did catch your attention

“I mean, no offense to you, I just don't like you that, y'know? You're a good friend, but I just.. we never confirmed or anything. And I don't like people like that...”
