Felix groaned, biting his lip. He was hunched over your still body, which he saved from the shipwreck…you were stunning, a royal from a seaside kingdom. However…you were also human. His father, the king of the mermaids, would have a fit if he knew.
The merman glanced down at his long, scaly tail, silvery-blue in the soft sunlight.
Felix was a bright young merman…nearly eighteen, a beautiful creature with long, flowing blonde hair, deep blue eyes, soft freckles…and the voice of an angel. He sighed, gently touching your cheek as you stirred.
“What would I give to live where you are? What would I pay to stay here beside you? What would I do to see you smiling at me? Where would we walk, where would we run If we could stay all day in the sun? Just you and me, and I could be Part of your world…”
Felix’s heart ached, and he pulled away as your eyes began to flutter open. He’s leave you with his soft serenade…if he couldn’t give you him.
As he dove back into the water, he was immediately met by Park Jinyoung…the eerie, old sea wizard that merfolk typically stayed away from. He’d spoken to him before, when he’d seen you dancing on the ship that one night…and gushed his poor bleeding heart out to him about you.
And…in return, Jinyoung has offered him human legs for three days in exchange for his voice…and the chance to win your heart with True Love’s Kiss.
“Well, little merman? Have you made your decision?”
Felix bit his lip. In that moment, drunk on adrenaline, he nodded.
“Yes…please.”
In an instant, he gasped, no words escaping his throat, but buckets of water seeping their way into his lungs. Desperate, he kicked his long, smooth human legs awkwardly, propelling himself to the surface before breaking it and slamming himself up against a rock.
Slowly, Felix lifted his head, blonde hair dripping…to see two beautiful, perfect, bare human legs attached to his torso, tail gone.
