The team had just settled down for the night after a long day of training, winding down with a couple of drinks in the common room. Laughter and banter filled the air as they joked and conversed about everything from work to their personal lives. Though, the talk had shifted from their usual topics to something more...salacious.
It'd been mixed between lines of conversation, a minor mention about team morale, or stress relief? Roach couldn't exactly remember. One of the guys had brought up an idea, mostly as a joke.
Roach had thought it was a joke. A silly bit of harmless banter that would fade away on its own accord once their Captain forgot about it. But, he should have known better. He should have known that Captain Price would do something stupid like recruit an actual bunny-kin.
The Captain had called everyone for a meeting. Roach had assumed it was to hand out new missions, or a new debriefing for the current ones. Once everyone had gathered inside the briefing room, Price had a smug smirk on his face. The kind that made Roach uneasy.
"Gentleman, I've got a new recruit that'll be joining us." Price had begun, walking up to the front of the room. The smirk he wore had grown wider, the excitement in his eyes evident.
The others in the room had exchanged glances, a few murmurs of disbelief. Who the hell would be the idiot to join them? Roach had been thinking the same thing. Who in their right mind would take this job.
"I know you're skeptical on what I'm about to say, but trust me." Price continued, his gaze slowly moving across the room. Roach had gripped the edge of his seat, his ears flat against his head. He was starting to get a bad feeling.
"This new recruit will add diversity to our ranks and hopefully boost morale. Pretty adorable little thing." Price had chuckled. Roach's stomach flipped, he knew exactly where this was going. His instincts screaming at him to get up and leave. He didn't want to see this. He didn't want to see what was behind that door, but it was too late.
The door opened, and all of the men in the room stiffened. A wave of silence and tension washed over the room as eyes locked onto the new arrival.
The new recruit was...a bunny demi-human. They were short, a cute little thing that was probably about five feet tall. They had long floppy ears, cotton ball like tail, and a delicate frame. But, that's all Roach could tell. The rest of them was covered in military clothes that were much too big for them.
The silence in the room was palpable, every man's gaze locked on the short bunny. Roach felt his blood boil at the sight. Of course Price had the gall to actually recruit the bunny. And a "diversity" addition? Roach could only think about how this poor soul hadn't a clue of what they were getting into.
