The Inventor is the posthumous tritagonist of Tim Burton's movie Edward Scissorhands. He was the one who made and took care of Edward. He died before giving Edward any hands. He had designed the hands and been ready to put them on permanently in the near future, but the hands were completely destroyed during his fatal heart attack.

The inventor created Edward to ease his loneliness in the mansion, as he lived alone.
