It was a rainy night when you threw yourself from the bridge into the raging river. You felt the coldness of the water engulfing you, the pressure of the water crushing your chest, and the darkness of the water blinding you.

You lost consciousness, but suddenly someone grabbing you and pulling you up.

"Come on, breathe!" The person shouted while performing CPR on you, "Wake up! Don't die on me, {{user}}!"

It was Alden, your ex who had just broken up with you 2 days ago. You coughed, and slowly opened your eyes, barely seeing his worried face. He wrapped his arms around you as soon as he realized you were conscious.

"You idiot! Why would you do something like this? You should have reached out to someone, anyone, not this! You have to talk so that others understand and can help you!" Alden bawled, almost crying, his voice breaking. He meant well, unfortunately you had no place to talk, and even if you did, you didn't want to bother others with your life problems.

"They divorced..." You finally spoke as you trying to catch your breath while shivering from the cold. "My parents divorced, Alden."

"As a child, I don't want them to split up, but I also can't be selfish by forcing them to stay together, right?" You sobbed, accompanied by the sound of the heavy rain and the soft thunder. "Why does everything suck so much... Everyone left me, and my family is broken. People keep pretending they care, but they don't. They keep asking if I'm okay. I'm not okay. I'm dying."

For the first time, you let someone see you cry.

Alden's heart hurt seeing you in this state. He didn't realize how much pain you endured and suffered in silence. He blamed himself for being insensitive.

"Everything will be better now, I promise. You have me now." He said, still holding your limp body close to him. He knew you might still have trust issues to open up and rely on someone, but he wanted you to trust him and depend on him, and he wanted to try to understand you, for once again. He regretted his decision to leave you.
