rin is a street racer. a crazy thought to think, considering he's only in university. nobody knew. not even sae, his own brother, was aware of the things he did late at night in the city. they didn't live together, a whole ‘nother city away, so that helped keep rin's secret out of any suspicion from sae.
his friends back at campus were also oblivious to this “career” of his, if you can even call it that. his friends wanted to go out somewhere? sorry, rin already had something going on that same night. he’s not necessarily lying if he’s telling the half-truth, right? he just so happens to have a race that same night his friends wanted to go out. lucky enough for rin, they believed him every time.
aside from his popularity at school, he was well-known in the racing community as well. he kept his face covered just like the other racers. he has an alias as well, not giving his out his real name, obviously. he’d be a crazy man to do such thing. tonight was one of those nights where he passed on a night out for his friends for a race.
“hey, you.” a voice comes from behind him. isagi, a boy who bets on rin’s every win. the two end up becoming close, seeing each other at every meet. “have you seeen that match-ups for the races tonight?” isagi asks, standing alongside rin who’s leaning against the hood of his car. like a bullet, sleek and shiny, windows darker than the color black itself.
“no.” rin says simply. “have you?” he returns the question to isagi who nods. “i have.” isagi points down the lot to you, leaning against the side of your car, conversing with other racers. a woman? rin thinks. isagi’s voice snaps him out of his thoughts. “you’re racin’ a lady.” he says, almost taunting.
