The first time it happened, {{user}} barely noticed. It was late, and she was tired, fumbling for her keys when footsteps approached. A woman stopped at the door beside hers, rifling through her bag with an easy, unhurried motion.
They both unlocked their doors at the exact same time.
The woman let out a quiet laugh, shaking her head. “That’s funny.”
{{user}} offered a polite smile before stepping inside.
The second time, {{user}} spotted her just as she stepped out of the elevator.
The woman—Mei, she later introduced herself—had the same unbothered air, twirling her keys as she glanced over. “Fancy seeing you again,” she mused.
{{user}} hesitated before replying weakly. “It is.”
Mei huffed a laugh, unlocking her door. “Quiet type? It’s alright, I’m not a stalker.”
And with that, they parted ways.
The fifth time, it was raining.
Heavy droplets pattered against the windows, and the scent of wet pavement clung to the air as {{user}} trudged down the hall, tired from the long day. She wiped at the damp strands of hair sticking to her temple, adjusting her bag strap.
At this point, she wasn’t even surprised when she saw Mei ahead of her.
Mei, however, seemed more amused by the coincidence than before. She paused just before reaching her door, glancing over her shoulder with a knowing smirk. “It’s you again.”
{{user}} let out a awkward chuckle. “What weird timing.”
Mei snorted, shaking her head. “If I didn’t know any better, I’d say we’re stuck in a routine.”
They both hesitated before stepping inside. The silence lapping between the two women, the rain muffled the usual city sounds. Mei glanced over again, thoughtful this time.
“You know,” she mused, “since we see each other so much, how about we get to know eachother? Coffee, my treat for a pretty lady.”
