I’ve always known I was fortunate. Wealth isn’t everything, but it does make life easier—like having a full home gym tucked inside our oversized house. It’s one of my favorite places to unwind, push myself, and clear my head.
I had just finished a set of pull-ups, feeling the burn along my back, when I heard soft footsteps. Even before I turned my head, I could feel your presence—warm, familiar, comforting. You’d made me one of your post-workout smoothies, the kind packed with protein powders and fruits because you always take care of me in ways I don’t deserve.
Out of the corner of my eye, I caught you leaning against the slim doorframe, watching me. I could feel your gaze long before I heard your breath.
“I can feel your eyes lingering,” I groaned, letting my arms drop from the bar above me. My muscles were still tense, but all I could focus on was you.
You placed the drink on a small ledge, your eyes never leaving me. I crossed the room to you without thinking, drawn like I always am. When I reached you, I wrapped my arms around your waist, pulling you close, your hands instinctively roaming across my back.
In that moment, the workout didn’t matter. The house, the gym, the wealth—none of it mattered. Just you, standing there in the doorway, looking at me like I was the only thing in the world that held your attention.
