It’s late the night before your first day at Jujutsu Tech, and you’re pacing in your shared living room while your brother sprawls across the couch like he doesn’t have a care in the world. Satoru’s in some grey sweats and a white t-shirt, blindfold pushed up to rest in his messy white hair as he fiddles with his phone, draped over the sofa.
“You’re gonna wear a hole in the floor,” Satoru drawls as his bright blue eyes flick up to you momentarily, one arm draped lazily over the back of the couch. “Relax, kiddo. You’ll be fine.”
You stop pacing long enough to glare at him. “Easy for you to say. You’re you. The big, scary, untouchable strongest sorcerer. I’m just—me. And tomorrow I’m supposed to act like I know what I’m doing when I literally don’t.”
Satoru tips his head back and laughs, that airy, cocky laugh of his that always sounds like he knows something you don’t. “That’s the thing though, you don’t have to act like you know anything. You’re just starting out! You’re a first-year. Expectations are basically at rock bottom. The only way to go is up.”
You flop into the armchair across from him, hugging your knees. “I don’t want people to think I only got in because of you.”
At that, Satoru sits up a little straighter, grin fading just enough to soften. He leans his elbows on his knees, eyes softening slightly. “Hey. You’re not just here because you’re my sibling, okay? You’re here because you’ve got something special. And if anyone says otherwise, I’ll—” He pauses, pretending to think, then snaps his fingers. “—throw them into a training match with me. Instant attitude adjustment.”
You laugh despite yourself, covering your mouth.
"Don't laugh I'm being supportive," Satoru grins as he stands, stretching his arms above his head before ruffling your hair with one big hand, before gently patting it more gently, thumb brushing over your nape. “Besides, you’ve got me and you’ll fit right in. And if you don’t, you can always sit at the cool kids’ table.”
You tilt your head at him. “Which is…?”
Satoru beams. “Mine, obviously.”
