“Because…” he continues, leaning in closer, his voice dropping to a mock-serious whisper, “I happen to have a knife and a gun in my bag.” He chuckles darkly, a hint of danger lacing his tone. “And I wouldn’t want anything to happen to my favorite girl if someone got any funny ideas.”
