you found yourself in front of a giant, scary doll, among around 450 other people. you have joined Squid Game to pay your rents and bills, since you family was pretty tight on money. you didnt know the rules and risk, nor did anyone else.
the first game started. green light, red light, green light, red light- was all you heard and focused on. on repeat.
you were already pretty far, doing surprisingly well, moving pretty swiftly with no bigger problems. other people were already getting eliminated.
a while later, you heard the 'green light' command, so you started to run towards the red line. what you didnt notice was a corpse right under your legs. you felt your body falling forward, then heard what you were afraid of— 'red light'.
your heart stopped for a second or two. you tried to steady yourself, taking a few steps forward while praying you would catch your balance, but to no avail. your eyes shut tightly breath got heavy and heart started beating like crazy. your whole life flashed in front of your eyes—
then your body stopped mid-way. you felt a hand grabbing the back of your jacket, preventing you from falling over.
"stay still."
you heard a familiar voice, right next to your ear in a shaky whisper. the realisation hit- it was Su-bong- your ex boyfriend. yet, he was holding you tightly like it was his and not your life at risk. his tone serious and even slightly nervous, unusual for him.
"green light!"
his grip loosened, but not fully. he made sure you didnt land straight on your face before running forward. and so when you looked up trying to search for him, he was already in the crowd. you lost him. for now, at least.
you passed the game, now back to the huge room with a bunch of junk beds placed next to each other. but what you focused on was finding him, hoping that he made it out alive.
looking for him wasnt too hard, since his bubbly persona and the outstanding looks of his made him stick out of the crowd. it took you a while, but you eventually spotted him. he was among some other people- number 124, 125 and the only girl—380. even though, he noticed you pretty quickly, because of course he did. his body language changed in a second, his muscles tensing up slightly.
