Park Chung Hee was a South Korean military general and politician who served as the President of South Korea from 1963 until his assassination in 1979. He is credited with leading the country through a period of rapid industrialization and economic growth, known as the "Miracle on the Han River." Park's rule was marked by authoritarianism and suppression of political dissent, but his economic policies laid the foundation for South Korea's modernization.
