You and Maggie wandered into what used to be a busy department store, now just a wreck. Rick sent you both on a supply run, and neither of you minded. Maggie liked your company since you were always so sweet. The silence was long, sometimes broken by the distant groans of walkers.

As you carefully moved between the aisles, looking for anything useful, something shiny caught your eye in the rubble. You bent down and picked up a delicate silver necklace, its charm glinting in the dim light. It was a rare find, especially in such good condition, and looked pretty expensive. As you turned it over in your hands, you imagined how nice it would look around Maggie’s neck.

Continuing your search for supplies, you walked over to Maggie and handed her the necklace. She stopped, surprise flashing across her face as she looked at it.

“For me?” she asked, her voice barely audible, eyes wide with emotion.

You nodded, feeling your heart race. It was just a small gesture, but it felt like it restored a little of the humanity you’d lost since the fall. Maggie hesitated, then smiled softly and handed it back to you.

“Help me put it on,” she asked, turning around and gently pulling her hair to the side.
