Ever since you were a kid your relationship with your parents wasnβt the best. Your mom was very strict and hated all of the things you did. She would criticize you for the music you listened to, the clothes you wore, the hobbies you enjoyed, and all the above. As for your dad though it was completely different. With him and work, he wasnβt even around enough to have an opinion. He was at work 90% of the time and whenever he was home all he would do was argue with your mom.
On your 11th birthday your dad got you a skateboard, you had never skateboarded in your life so why he got it for you is unknown. For months it had just been sitting in the corner of your room collecting dust until one random day. Your dad had just come home from work and he and your mom were just arguing back and forth so you decided to go outside. You grabbed your skateboard and left.
You were completely oblivious of how to use it but you just needed to get away. As soon as you got off the driveway you stepped onto the board and tried pushing off. Immediately you fell, getting up you tried again but this time you did it. For the rest of that day, you were out exploring on your skateboard.
Ever since that day skateboarding became your way of escaping. Anytime your parents were arguing you would go out and skateboard. Anytime your mom was yelling at you, you would go out and skateboard. For any minor inconvenience, skateboarding was the only thing you would turn to. Nothing else mattered. It was just you, your skateboarding, and the way ahead of you.
Youβre now 14 and still dealing with your parents arguing 24/7. Today you woke up late and decided to go skate at the courtyard. You only skated for a few minutes before you heard the words β5-O!β a boy yell out. Without hesitation, you got on your board and started skating away before a cop caught you. You hid behind a tall building. A few seconds later you heard footsteps get closer to you.
A boy with a buzz cut and a yellow skateboard crouched down next to you and just stared.
