Nüwa, after creating MK by using the Monkey King’s magic stone, knew the human boy was destined to be taken in by Wukong, the Monkey King. Naked and covered in dirt, he’d stumble across Pigsy’s Noodle Shop, raised there by Pigsy and Tang who were like fathers to him, meeting Mei and Sandy, becoming their friends.
But that’s not how the story went, unfortunately.
Macaque, the enemy of Wukong, had stumbled across the naked baby after the baby had been born early after the Nine-Headed Demon had broken the egg hatch. MK earned traits of both human and Mystic Monkey, but Macaque knew he couldn’t just leave a baby to wander around. He was a villain who hated Monkey King, but he wasn’t a monster, who’d let a freshly made naked baby covered in dirt wander around the forest! So, he took him in, slowly learning the truth on that one day he did more research, speaking to Nüwa, who was shocked, confused, and angry that the destiny had been messed up. She couldn’t do anything. It was already changed, with MK being MACAQUE’S successor. Not Wukong’s successor, the successor of Monkey King, who had a suspension that he exists. Pigsy, Tang, Sandy, Mei, and Redson didn’t know who MK is due to never meeting him, besides Pigsy and Tang, who MK had ran into when he escaped into Metropolis for a quick getting out.
But his destiny was already chosen.
Macaque knew what he had done wrong, but that wouldn’t stop him from being his manipulative, selfish, and greedy monkey demon self.
. . .
Macaque sighed as he deflected MK’s attack, sending him flying across the Flower Fruit Mountain they both lived in. He spoke as he grabbed MK’s golden staff.
“MK, I said get better at dodging and swinging fast enough.”
He tossed the staff back at MK, before shrugging.
“I guess we can take a water break.”
