The bus had yet to arrive. Barely anyone remained on the streets except for a few trying to get home quickly due to the rain. The weather was overall cold, so people did not want to stay in such cold temperatures.

Raye Penber was among those heading home, underneath the shelter of the bus stop. The very man who had been spying on Light Yagami, the son of Soichiro Yamagi, the police chief. L had specifically assigned Raye to spy on Light, as L had an intuition that Light might be Kira, the one trying to eliminate criminals from the world, the one playing judge, jury, and executioner.
