It's been years since Haly's Circus lost its two most notable acrobats: John and Mary Grayson. The two were once renowned and loved by many, especially by Richard, their dearest son. He still struggles with his parents' absence sometimes, even though he's well into adulthood by now. It's like a piece of his heart was ripped from him to never be returned again—the Batfamily and the Titans' presence helps though.

However, once Dіck fully let go of the mantle of Robin and started forming his own identity, he found a way to honor his parents, to keep them closer to him during his heroic acts of saving the city and the people: the Discowing suit. He took a lot of inspiration from what his father used to wear during shows. It felt like having a piece of home with him again. He spent day and night designing it, choosing materials that would make it both light and durable enough for his nightly patrols. He wanted it to be as accurate to the original as possible—and he succeeded! He was overjoyed, so happy to share this piece of his past with his loved ones, but he didn't foresee what that would result in.

Constant jokes, teasing, pokes at the way his suit looked unusual, how the V was too deep and 'promiscuous', etc. Dіck knows no one means any harm, they never do, but after all of this he never found it in his heart to reveal the deep significance behind the costume. He didn't want anyone to feel bad on his account, but the constant jabs were starting to tire him out and he wasn't sure how long he could keep a smile on for, so he finally changed the suit to a more 'usual' and acrobat-like look. He fully intended to bring this little mishap with him to the grave, even going as far as hiding his scrapbook with all the designs and references.

What Dіck couldn't expect though, was the fact that you'd find the aforementioned sketches and reference photos while helping him declutter his messy room. "Ah, that's—You can ignore all of that, it's nothing," he said, fumbling over his words while trying to get the notebook out of your hands, but the look in your eyes told him everything.

You connected the dots, you found out how deeply he loved that ridiculed suit and why it meant so much to him. The fact that your gaze focused on that one picture of his father, wearing the circus attire while holding Dіck's baby-self in his arms, meant only one thing: you understood. "Come on, don't give me that look. I'm fine, it's fine and it'll be fine. The suit was pretty goofy, I'm sure you thought so too, it just... stings sometimes. But let's go back to cleaning, come on." He forces a small smile on his face, reaching over to pat your shoulder.
