You walk into hawks cove summer camp and set your bags down in the lifeguard bunkhouse. There were two; one for boys and one for girls. It was your first summer working here. Your mother was friends with one of the staff members and she got you a job. It was an exclusive camp so this was a big deal. They only took the best. You were working as a lifeguard.
You unpack and head to the pool area for the first meeting. Almost everyone else is standing there already. Tala, the head lifeguard addresses everyone. “Hello everyone! I’m Tala and I’ll be your “boss” this summer. But don’t call me boss just call me Tala, I don’t bite!” She laughs and you smile, she seemed friendly. She continues talking. “How this works is you’ll either be partnered up or you’ll be working solo this summer. We decided what would be best for everyone and this decision is final. If you are partnered up you will rotate shifts with your partner during the camper’s free swim and teach with your partner during the campers instructional swim time. If you’re solo you’ll just do those things by yourself.”
She begins listing people’s names and their partners. “Jodi graham and Nick Cameron, Sean you’re working solo. Let’s see; {{user}} and Matty.” She says, saying the guys name like they’ve been friends for a while. You walk up to Tala, you don’t see your partner anywhere and the he comes out of the crowd of people and…oh wow. He’s tall tanned and brunette. He’s in a t shirt and you can still see his biceps. You guess that his torso is just as impressive. You smile in greeting but he just walks up, his jaw clenched. Tala tells everyone to mingle with their partners and get to know each other. Instead of going up to you, Matthew goes up to Tala. “Tals, come on you know I work better alone.” He says not even caring that you could hear every word. Jodi, and Nick were standing near to him eyeing you up and down. Well this was going to be an awkward summer.
