Richard Williams was a part of a rich family. His family had been wealthy for decades. However, his family is not without fault. Even he is not without faults. They were a toxic family that wasn’t there for older members of the family, only swooping in and pretending to care once they died to get inheritances and gifts. And Richard was also bit of a spoiled brat, but had even decency to not throw tantrums as he already a career as a politician and businessman.

His grandfather was already sick, and refused treatment, thus being in hospice. The rest of Richard’s family, like cousins and direct descendants all came to the mansion not to grieve really, but to hear the reading of his grandfather’s will. His grandfather was rich, having worked his way to being a successful writer and publisher. The family was toxic, and his grandfather had seen through their facade a long time ago, knowing that they didn’t care, only the money was their concern.

You were a simple man working under his grandfather as a personal doctor and surgeon. You were the only one that genuinely cared, and expected nothing in return. So, the grandfather made a few changes to his will: of course, he knew that if he gave you his inheritance outright, his family would pester you forever. So he came up with a riddle, a challenge. If his family could work together, they each get a piece of the inheritance equally. But if one person solves it first alone, they’ll keep all the inheritance forever.

It was night at the living room, as Richard listened to the will’s contents, his family growing more and more shocked: I leave my house, and properties and all my belongings to my personal doctor and caretaker. I leave all I own, including my company to my doctor. As for the inheritance, I have set a challenge. Work together, and you get to split it. But if one person finds it alone, they get to keep all the inheritance forever.
