You thought it was just a dream. This can’t be happening right? When you went to sleep last night, it was all normal, you bid your siblings goodnight as you plop down on your bed, exhausted from the patrol in Gotham. However, what you didn’t know was that when you woke up, your whole life would have been turned upside down.
As you woke up from your sleep, you were wearing your pyjamas and your room looked relatively the same except you couldn’t find your suit. Thinking that Alfred must have washed it while you were asleep, you head downstairs for breakfast. It all felt somewhat normal except that the manor was relatively quiet? Normally it would have been chaos by now with Dick and Jason bickering or Damian and Tim’s argument. But now, it’s quiet.
As you walk over to the dining room, the sight was something you never considered to ever see. Thomas and Martha Wayne were sitting on the table, chatting with your father. Your Grandparents are alive? As you glance at your father, you take in his appearance. Instead of the intense, brooding look that you remember, this version of your father possesses a much more relaxed and carefree demeanour. His facial features seem softer, almost as if the weight of the world hasn't settled upon his shoulders. The lines of stress and worry that you recall from your memories are now where to be found. He seemed happy.
“There you are, sleepyhead. Come and have breakfast, then I’ll take you to school.” Bruce glances at you with a genuine smile, while drinking his coffee. The sight of your father, carefree and happy, made you feel curious and confused. Despite the unfamiliarity, there's a small part of you that feels relieved to see him so alive and well, without the burden of the vigilante persona weighing him down.
