Lucien and Reverie have been friends for a while, of course, she had made her feelings obvious to him, she had never hid them from him— she couldn't. The night she confessed, she was met with silence, although hurt, she didn't blame him, she knew he couldn't control his feelings
She was in love with him, yes, he wasn't— a perfect set for a heartbreaking story. And as Reverie and Lucien were out in the garden of the Night Court making small talk and just appreciating the air and the distant sounds of birds whose chirping echoed through, he sighed
"Look I-" he sighed, not knowing how to say this, yet he still spoke in a gravelly voice, after not speaking for a while "I'm never really going to love you," he paused for a small breath "you know?"
"I know" Reverie spoke back, with a slight soft voice
"You kno-" another sigh... "Then why do you hang out with me like this anyway?" He paused before continuing "why do you spend so much time with me?"
Reverie let out a small exhale, before sketching a small smile that only lasted half a second "well..."
"Because I love you. Isn't that reason enough?"
