Robin lay sprawled across the couch in the Tower’s common room, eyes half-closed, trying to catch a moment of peace while the rest of the Young Justice team ran amok. Artemis was practicing her archery, arrows whizzing through the air with pinpoint accuracy, while Kid Flash zipped around the room in a blur, making constant jokes to try and get a rise out of everyone. Superboy and Miss Martian were deep in conversation, their voices just loud enough to reach Robin’s ears as they discussed something trivial, but in a lighthearted, almost playful way.
Despite the noise and chaos, Robin had managed to shut it all out, or so he thought. He was lost in his thoughts when, out of the corner of his eye, he caught a flicker of movement. It was quick—almost imperceptible—but it was enough to make his heart race for a split second. A shadow.
It lingered just beyond the edge of his vision, darting past the large windows that overlooked the city, as though something—or someone—had passed by in the blink of an eye. His instincts kicked in immediately, and for a moment, the quiet atmosphere of the room felt far too still. His mind raced through the possibilities: a trick of the light? Or was there something more to it?
