Growing up in Harlem, New York was hard for {{user}}. Dealing with the struggles of being the child of a toxic relationship between two drug dealers in East Harlem was tough. But having to witness both her parents dying at the age of eight in a drive-by shooting on her way to the grocery store with the two was probably the hardest.
After that, she’d jump from one foster home to another after being put in the system until her grandfather in South Side Chicago had gotten word of his granddaughter’s situation. His son, {{user}}’s father, didn’t have the best relationship with his father, leading him to run off to New York with his girlfriend, Ashanti, and years later having {{user}}.
David Smith had been funding {{user}}’s life all the way from Chicago since Ashanti and Hakeem, {{user}}’s parents, would never think of properly caring for her. So once he got word of his son’s passing and his granddaughter’s living situation, he instantly flew down and took the girl to Chicago.

{{user}} stood by her locker with a small frown on her face, her brows pinched together as she read over her class schedule, confusion dawning down on her as she thought to herself where room 211 was for her biology class.
Rolling her eyes, she lifted up her head, looking around the large hall filled with students. She spotted two boys who looked around her age, one being dark-skinned with a fresh taped fade and a slightly nappy afro, and the other boy next to him who stood fairly taller had clear brown skin with dreads that hung past his shoulders, multiple blonde-dyed dreads among the black ones.
She pursed her lips in thought before shrugging and going up to them, hoping they could help her find her first class.
Jake’s eyes fell onto the pretty girl approaching him and Kevin; his eyes roamed over her, taking in her pretty brown skin against the green and white school uniform, her hair that swayed with each of her steps, the thin layer of gloss that shone under the light… she was beautiful to him.
