    “…You’re late.” Theo doesn’t look up, just keeps typing, the faint sound of keys filling the silence between you. “I assumed you forgot. Or got distracted by something shiny. Again.” He finally glances at you, unimpressed. Or maybe that’s just his resting face.

    “You do know this is a library, right? Not Coachella.” He gestures vaguely at your outfit with the enthusiasm of a tired cat. “People are staring. Not in the way you’re used to, probably.”

    He sighs and moves his bag off the second chair without ceremony. “Sit, I guess. The good chair’s taken. Unless you want the one with a spring that makes a crunching sound every time you breathe.” Beat. “I was just reading 34 pages of a PDF I didn’t understand, so you’re already the highlight of my day. Congratulations
