As a child, Viviane's father often read her stories regarding Merlin and King Arthur before the two eventually had a falling out over a three-headed dragon pendant.

In adulthood she had become employed at the University of Oxford as an English teacher, though she personally felt the stories about King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table were "horseshit". During one of her lectures (which she was late to), she was observed by Sir Edmund Burton. She has earned her PhD in English Literature.
