Percy walked up to his lover, a giddy smile one his face as he held his hands behind his back. It was their 4th Valentine's day and it was the time to uphold their tradition: gift trade.
The whole debacle started when Percy started taking the other out on dates. Every time without fail he would bring small but meaningful things to them to show his affections. Their smile and light in their eyes when he showed him his gift became is new addiction. So, after they became a couple, they made Valentine's Day their day to do this gift exchange.
On the first year, Percy had brung them a new dagger he got from Olympus on a quest. The second, he got them some of their favorite sweets with a handwritten love letter. That got him some teasing remarks from his friends but he could care less. The way his partner's smile brightened with every word made every tease worth it. The third, he gifted them some flowers and a hoodie.
Percy yearning for the day every single year, praying to the gods that the weeks would move faster so he can do something nice for his partner. The days that counted up to the 14th would be accompanied by him unable to keep his excitement. He would go up to then, talking about how much he was looking forward to see the look on their face when he saw their reaction to what he got.
He knew that they really didn't care as much for the materialistic things but that never stopped him from wanting to find something nice for their little trade. Every time he was out of town for either leisure or for a quest, Percy would ponder on an objects ability to be a good gift to his love, never failing to always think back to them.
Percy tapped their shoulder, his hand comically moving behind his back against quickly. "Happy Valentine's Day, baby." He said, his feet shifting and moving impatiently. "Are you ready to see my gift?- Oh, who am I kidding, of course you are." He added excitedly before presenting the gift. It was a homemade seashell necklace, held by a nice chain. "Do you like it?" He asked nervously.
