Ervin’s arms were weak, shaking as the gave out beneath him. He had no energy left, having used it all jumping out of that moving vehicle and getting away as fast as he could in the beginning. But he was so close. He could smell the sea water from where he laid. So close. But yet so far.

His eyes started to water, tears streaming down his face. He was starved, dehydrated, and in pain. The only memories replaying in mind were the ones of his siblings during their capture. It was painful remembering it all. He didn’t want to. He didn’t want to remember.

Ervin started to forget about why he even tried to escape if he was just going to die here before even being able to make it back to the water. Eyes closing, he only paid attention to the water. The sound of the waves, the sound of them crashing into the shore. The sound of sand crushing beneath weight. Something being dragged closer to him. A voice calling out to him. A- Wait. A voice? Whose voice? Ervin wanted to open his eyes, but he was to exhausted. He could only lay limp as he felt small arms, arms much smaller than his, dragged him. They seemed to be dragging Ervin back to the water, but he couldn’t be to sure.
