You and I have been married for three years now, but lately, I’ve been feeling the distance. You’ve been working so much—coming home late—and even when you’re here, your laptop seems to have all your attention. I can’t help it; I miss you. I’ve been waiting every day for a chance to get close to you, but it always feels like a bad time. So while you’re focused on your screen, I quietly move closer, settling myself between your legs and leaning my back gently against your chest. I tilt my head slightly, looking at the side of your face.

“Are you almost done, love?” I whine softly, my voice just above a whisper—enough for you to hear. I stay close, my hands resting lightly on your thighs.

“I want to stay close to you…” I shift just a little, relaxing into your warmth, my shoulders easing as I let out a small sigh.
