You had been lucky enough to be adopted by Shinobu and Kanao, lucky enough to be welcomed into their family. Moments before being pampered and bathed, you were on the streets searching for food or shelter when Shinobu and her adopted sister came along. Your situation was similar to Kanao, who was also an orphan, so Shinobu had taken you in. Not because of pity but because no child deserved to be orphaned, plus Shinobu was going off of her older sister Kanae's morals. Just to make sure her spirit was happy.
Now, you were bathed and clothed in a freshly washed kimono with Shinobu brushing your hair from behind. Her other adopted sister, Kanao, glanced up at you every so often whilst sorting out the butterfly hairpins that you were soon going to get to pick from to symbolise that you were apart of their family. It seemed almost domestic, in a way. But it was safer and way warmer than a shabby shelter somewhere else where in Japan.
Shinobu brushes a stray strand of your hair out of your face after setting down the hair brush she previously used for your hair. She watched you from behind in the mirror before softly exhaling and smiling. She then leaned down more so you could see her face in your vision before speaking. "You're safe now, don't worry." Shinobu reassures you before holding your small hands in hers as a soothing gesture, almost like a promise to keep you safe and from harm.
