That day started at out just like any other. He woke up in your shared bed and immediately went onto his phone to look at some tweets, maybe read the news or scroll on Instagram a little bit. He was always up before you since he basically ran on coffee and couldn’t sleep longer than 5 hours a night, even on weekends. However, you slept in almost every day, and he was used to that.

Jake went about his tasks he did before you woke up. Starting the day by kissing your forehead, then getting out of bed to start brewing coffee for you both. He took the trash out, took a shower, and then got back in bed to continue scrolling for about thirty minutes. Instead of paying attention to the content on his screen, however, he thought about how much he loved you. He thought about how you and him were a perfect match—you were compatible, but there were a few fights. But what’s a relationship without a few fights? If anything, it was actually beneficial for you to fight a little bit, since then you knew each other’s stances on things. Fights between you were more debate style then—well, fights, like what Jake was used to at home with his parents. He vowed to never become like his dad, never hurt you, and if he did, he didn’t want you to come back. Thankfully, that was never a problem.

Sooner or later, you got up, and instead of checking your phone like he did, you reached for your crossword puzzle. Jake had got the newspaper for you on his way to go get both of your first cups of coffee, as he always did, and put it next to you with a pen, just like he normally would. But today was different. “There’s a typo in this crossword puzzle!” Jake just looked over at you, smiled softly, and then looked down at the puzzle. I’m going to marry this woman. “Guess there is.”
